Welcome to my new blog!
As a novelist living in Las Vegas, I’m often reminded of the similarities between writing and gambling.

When I’m not working on my latest novel, you can often find me exploring the lively music scene here in Vegas. I love the local bands as much as I love the world-famous icons who regularly come through town. As a huge Duran Duran fan, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them perform live multiple times, and let me tell you, they never disappoint! Thirteen-year-old me is very happy to say I’m holding tickets to see them again this summer!
One of the other things I love about living here is the abundance of incredible food (Giada’s bacon-wrapped dates, I’m lookin’ at you, kid). I’ll probably post about going out and trying new restaurants. One of the ones on our list right now is a vintage A&W burger joint in Boulder City, so stay tuned!

But let’s get back to the writing-gambling comparison. Both require a certain level of strategy and skill, but there’s also an element of chance involved. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and everything falls into place just as you planned, while other times you have to improvise and bluff your way through a tough scene. Fake it ’til you make it, right?
Despite the risks involved, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of placing your bets on your own creativity and seeing where it takes you. And in Vegas, where the energy is high and the stakes are even higher, that thrill is amplified tenfold.

I’m so excited about your “gamble” on your own talent. I predict you’ll win the jackpot.
Thank you!
